学術論文を正式な雑誌に投稿・掲載する前に、査読を受けていない段階で公開する原稿や論文のこと。研究成果を早く共有するために用いられ、arXiv などの公開サーバーで広く共有され、後に査読付き論文として改稿・出版されることが多い。
