サイコパスという語は、共感や良心が欠けており、衝動的で反社会的な行動を取る傾向がある人を指す名詞です。医学的には反社会性パーソナリティ障害の一形態と見なされ、他人を傷つけても罪悪感を抱かない特徴があります。映画やメディアには連続殺人犯のように描写されることが多いですが、現実には社会で機能しながら暮らす人も少なくありません。
