recordable は record＋-able。record は古フランス語を経てラテン語 recordari「心に再び呼び戻す」から来て、re-「再び」＋cor/cord「心」に分かれる。もとは“心に留め直す”感覚で、そこから「記録できる」の意味になった。関連語は record, cordial。
Recordable is built from `record` and the suffix `-able.` `Record` came through Old French from Latin `recordari`, literally "to call back to the heart," from `re-` "again" and `cor` or `cord` "heart."
