解説 Definition
redirected は redirect の過去形・過去分詞で、人・物・通信・資源などを別の行き先や目的へ向けた、または送ったことを表します。ウェブで別のURLへリダイレクトされた場合にも使います。
Sent, guided, or turned toward a different destination, route, person, or purpose. Redirected is the past tense and past participle of redirect and is commonly used for website visitors, traffic, communications, questions, and resources.
使い方 Usage
- redirected ＋ 人・物 ＋ to ＋ 行き先で「人・物を別の行き先へ送った」。受け身では was redirected to ... となります。 Use redirected someone or something to a destination. The passive form is was redirected to a destination.
- ウェブの利用者だけでなく、交通を別の道へ誘導したり、質問を別の部署へ回したりする場面でも使います。 Redirected can describe sending website users elsewhere, guiding traffic onto another route, or passing a question to another department.

direct「向ける」と結び、矢印が別の行き先へ向きを変える様子で覚えます。redirect に -ed を付けた形で、語尾は /ɪd/ と発音します。

redirected は re-「再び・別へ」と direct から成り、direct はラテン語 dirigere（まっすぐ導く）にさかのぼります。いったん向けた先をもう一度導き直す感覚から、「別の宛先へ回された」という意味になります。関連語に regulate, director があります。
Redirected consists of redirect plus the regular past-tense or participial ending -ed. Redirect combines re-, here conveying a renewed or changed direction, with direct. Direct ultimately comes from Latin dirigere, “to set straight” or “guide,” formed from dis- and regere, “rule” or “guide.” The modern verb redirect therefore means to guide something toward a different destination, and redirected marks that action as completed or describes its resulting state.
