息苦しい
解説 Definition
空気の流れが悪く息苦しい環境。また、改革的でない、堅苦しく形式的な雰囲気や態度も指す。
If a room or place is stuffy, the air feels hot, closed, and not fresh, so it is uncomfortable to stay there. It is commonly used for indoor spaces with poor ventilation. The word can also describe a blocked nose, but that is a different meaning.
