reincarnated はラテン語 incarnare「肉体を与える」をもとにした語で、re-「再び」+ in-「中へ」+ carn「肉」+ -ate「〜にする」が骨格です。文字どおりには「再び肉体に入る」で、魂がもう一度体を得るイメージから「生まれ変わった」という意味になります。関連語は reincarnation, carnal です。
