世間や周囲でそのように言われている、という意味で使う形容詞です。話し手自身が事実だと断定しているわけではなく、うわさ・通説・一般認識として述べるときに用いられます。
覚え方のコツ Memory Tip
reputation（評判）が頭に入っていれば覚えやすい語です。reputed は「よい評判をもつ」「〜と評される」という形で使われ、a reputed expert なら「評判の高い専門家」。単に famous が「有名」、well-known が「よく知られた」なのに対し、reputed は「世間の評価が積み重なっている」感じが強めです。be reputed to do で「〜すると言われている」にもなるので、その用法も一緒に結ぶと定着しやすいです。
