resolved はラテン語 resolvere にさかのぼり、re-「ほどいて」＋ solvere「ゆるめる・解く」から成ります。もともとは「もつれを解く」感覚で、問題を解きほぐして「解決済み」の意味になりました。関連語に solve、dissolve があります。
Resolved is formed from resolve plus the past-tense and participial ending -d. Resolve entered English through Latin resolvere, composed of re-, suggesting reversal or release, and solvere, “to loosen, untie, or release.” The physical image of loosening something developed into the abstract idea of analyzing and settling a difficulty.
