seller はまず動詞 sell を確実に押さえ、その「する人」版が -er でできると見ると覚えやすい。teach→teacher と同じ型で、seller は「売る人」。対になる語は buyer なので、売る側か買う側かをセットで覚えると混同しにくい。best seller は本来「よく売れるもの」で、人そのものを指すとは限らない一方、online seller や third-party seller なら「販売者」。sale は「販売・特売」、sales は「営業」で、seller とは役割が違う点も一緒に整理すると定着する。
