skewed は skew+ -ed。skew は古フランス語系で「脇へ避ける」が元で、そこから「まっすぐでない、ゆがんだ」へ広がりました。eschew も同根で、意味の芯に「横へそれる」感覚があります。
`Ruminating` comes from `ruminate`, from Latin `ruminari`, meaning to chew the cud or think over repeatedly. The image comes from animals chewing food again, which later became a metaphor for repeated thought.
