subsidiarity は、より身近で下位の共同体や組織が処理できることは、上位機関がむやみに介入せず、そのレベルで決定すべきだとする原理です。EU法や行政・政治の文脈で使われ、地方分権や自治の尊重を支える考え方を表します。
Subsidiarity is the principle that decisions should be made at the most local or lowest level that can deal with them effectively. It is often used in politics, government, and organizational discussions.
