梅毒はトレポネーマ・パリダムという細菌が性感染によって体内に入り込んで起こる感染症です。初期には痛みの少ない潰瘍や発疹などが出るだけで、症状に気づかずに過ごしてしまうこともあります。治療せずに放置すると心臓や神経を侵して重篤な合併症を招くので、早期に抗生物質を使って完治させることが重要です。
