解説 Definition
有神論とは、神の存在を信じる哲学的あるいは宗教的立場のことを指す。神は宇宙の創造者であり、世界の事象に関与していると考える信念体系である。無神論や不可知論とは対照的な見方である。
Theism is the belief that at least one god exists. It is mainly used in religion and philosophy when discussing belief in a divine being who may create or influence the world.
覚え方のコツ Memory Tip
まず theology（神学）, theologian（神学者）, atheist（無神論者）, monotheism（一神教）など、the-/theo- が「神」まわりの語で繰り返し出ると押さえる。そこに -ism が付くと「主義・思想・立場」になるので、theism はそのまま「神の存在を認める立場」。特に atheism と対で覚えると強く残る。a- が付くと否定になり、theism ↔ atheism の対比で意味が一気に整理できる。宗教そのものというより、God exists かどうかという哲学的立場を表す語だと意識すると使い分けしやすい。
