tyke は中英語 tike「雑種犬、粗野な者」に由来するとされ、さらに古ノルド語系までさかのぼると考えられます。分解語ではありませんが、「手に負えないやつ」が「やんちゃな子」へ和らいだのが面白く、tike や tykish が同系です。
