「虚偽」とは事実と異なり、真実ではないことを指す形容詞である。発言や情報の誤りやうわさなどに対して使われ、たとえ意図せずに伝えられたとしても事実でない点を表す。法的・道徳的な文脈では、故意に不正確な陳述や記述を指して誠実さや正確さを損なう行為として扱われる。
