ヒゲクジラの上あごに並ぶ、角質でできた板状の器官。海水を口に含んだあと、水だけを外へ押し出しながらオキアミやプランクトンなどの小さな生物をこし取るために使われる。歯ではなく、人の髭とも違う、くじら特有の摂食器官を指す。
