暴飲暴食
解説 Definition

binge は英語方言 binge「水に浸す・たっぷり吸わせる」に由来するとされ、のちに「酒にひたる」から暴飲暴食へ広がりました。binge-drinking や binge-watch にも同じ binge が入り、「ほどよく味わう」のでなく「どっぷり漬かる」感覚だと分かると腑に落ちます。
Binge is probably from an English dialect word meaning to soak or fill up with liquid. The idea first suggested being deeply soaked, and later became linked with heavy drinking. From there, it widened to any activity done too much at one time, as in binge-drinking or binge-watch.
