blabbing は blab + -ing。blab は中英語 blabben に見られ、ぺらぺらしゃべる音をまねた擬音的なゲルマン系語と考えられます。『口が止まらず漏れる』感じから、うっかり秘密をしゃべる意味になりました。関連語は blabber, babble。
