語源
contravene はフランス語経由で、後期ラテン語 contravenire「逆らって来る」に由来する。contra-「反対に」+ venire「来る」から、違反とは“規則の流れに向かって来てぶつかる”こと。convene や intervene も同じ venire を含む。
