現代の curate「キュレートする」は curator から逆成された動詞で、さらにラテン語 curare「世話をする」へさかのぼります。語根 cur- には care の感覚があり、単に並べるのでなく「注意深く選び、面倒を見る」ので今の意味になりました。関連語は curator, cure。
