A dietician is a person trained in food and nutrition who gives advice about healthy eating and special diets. They often work in hospitals, schools, or health clinics. In modern usage, the spelling "dietitian" is also very common.

diet が見えたらまず「食事・食習慣」を思い出す。そこに -ician が付くと musician, physician のように「その分野の専門家」になるので、「食事を専門に扱う人」と組み立てて覚えると残りやすい。単に food に詳しい人ではなく、栄養指導や食事管理をする職業名で、nutritionist より資格職寄りの語感。hospital dietician, sports dietician のような場面で結びつけると定着しやすい。なお dietitian という綴りも非常によく使われる異綴なので、別語だと思わずセットで覚える。
