discursive は後期ラテン語 discursivus を経て入り、語源は dis-「あちこちへ」+ currere「走る」です。話が一筋でなく“走り回る”ように広がることから「談話的な・脱線しがちな」の感覚になり、course や current も同じ語根です。
Discursive came from late Latin `discursivus`, from a verb built from `dis-` meaning "in different directions" and `currere`, meaning "to run."
