解説 Definition
disinfect の過去形・過去分詞で、有害な細菌やウイルスなどを薬剤や加熱によって除去し、衛生的で安全な状態にすることを表す。受け身では「消毒された」、完了では「消毒を終えた」という意味で使われる。
Disinfected means cleaned in a way that kills harmful bacteria, viruses, or other germs. It is commonly used for surfaces, tools, rooms, and sometimes skin or wounds. It does not always mean completely sterile.

infect / infection を知っていると覚えやすい語。中心は infect「感染させる・汚染する」で、dis- が付くと「その汚れや菌を取り除く」方向に反転し、-ed で「消毒された／消毒を終えた」状態になる。a disinfected room, disinfected surfaces のように、清潔で安全な状態を述べる場面で出やすい。sterilized は「完全滅菌」に近く、disinfected は有害な菌を減らして安全にした語感。
Build it from `infect` and `infection`, which many learners already know. `Disinfect` means to remove the danger of infection, and `-ed` shows the job is already done. Compare it with `sterilized`: `disinfected` is about making something safer, not always perfectly germ-free.
