Memory Tip
実際も church structure, church authority, the nature of the church など、教会の組織・本質・役割を論じる場面で出る。
Look at the ending `-logy`, which often means a field of study, like in `biology` or `theology`. The first part is related to `ecclesiastical`, which is connected to the church. A good memory hook is `church + study`, and be careful not to confuse it with `ecology`.

Etymology
ギリシャ語 ekklēsia(集会・教会)+ -logia(学問)の合成語。 関連語: ecclesiastical(教会の)、-logy(~学)。
Ecclesiology comes from Greek ekklēsia, meaning "assembly" or "church," and -logy, meaning "study of." Ekklēsia itself comes from ek-, "out," and kalein, "to call," so it originally meant people who were called out or gathered together. The word later came to mean the study of the nature and structure of the church. A related English word is ecclesiastical.
