editorial（社説の・編集上の）+ -ly。editor はラテン語 editor「世に出す人」← edere「外へ出す・出版する」にさかのぼり、edition や edit と同根です。つまり editorially は「編集者として世に出すやり方で」という感覚です。
Editorially comes from editorial plus -ly. Editorial is based on editor, from Latin editor, "one who puts forth," from edere, "to bring out" or "publish." So the word keeps the sense of doing something in an editor's way or in relation to publication. Edit and edition come from the same root.
