信じられない、または信じがたい状況や主張を表す形容詞です。通常の常識や事実と相反しており、疑わしいまたはあり得そうにないと思われることを描写します。
Implausible means unlikely to be true or difficult to believe. It is commonly used for stories, explanations, or ideas that do not seem realistic or reasonable.
覚え方のコツ Memory Tip
implausible は plausible「もっともらしい」が土台。まず plausible story / explanation =「一応ありそうな話」と押さえ、先頭に否定の im- が付くと「もっともらしくない」→「信じがたい」。impossible などの im- と同じ否定パターンで覚えると定着しやすい。unbelievable が驚き寄りなのに対し、implausible は論理や状況に無理があって納得しにくい感じ。an implausible excuse / claim の形で見ると使い所もつかみやすい。
First remember `plausible` = something that sounds believable or reasonable. Then add the negative prefix `im-`, the same pattern as in `impossible`. An `implausible excuse` is not shocking because it is amazing, but because it does not sound convincing.
