裁判官団
noun 名詞集合的に、ある国や地域で司法を担う裁判官全体、すなわち裁判官団を指す。the judicature の形で用いられることが多く、司法制度や司法権という抽象概念ではなく、その職務を行う人々に焦点がある。
司法制度、または司法権。法と秩序を扱う政府の部門。
Judicature means the system of courts in a country or region, or the work of judging legal cases. It is used in legal, formal, and academic contexts when talking about the administration of justice. The word is more formal than simply saying courts or judiciary.
judge や judicial を知っていれば、judic- が「裁く・判断する」側のまとまりだとつかめます。そこに名詞語尾 -ature がついて、「個々の裁判」ではなく裁く仕組み全体、つまり司法制度・司法権という大きな概念を表す語です。court が法廷、judge が裁判官なのに対し、judicature はもっと制度寄りの硬い語。the judicature of a country のように、国の司法全体を思い浮かべると定着しやすいです。judiciary とかなり近いので、どちらも「司法部門」を指すフォーマル語として並べて覚えると混乱しにくくなります。
If you know `judge` and `judicial`, the `judic-` part is easy to connect with law and judging. `Judicature` is a big, formal word for the whole system of judging, not one judge or one court. It is close to `judiciary`, so remembering those together helps.
The country's judicature ensures fair trials and legal protection for all citizens.
その国の司法制度はすべての市民に公正な裁判と法的保護を保証する。
Reforms to the judicature improved access to justice for marginalized communities.
司法制度の改革により、社会的に不利な立場に置かれたコミュニティの司法へのアクセスが改善された。
The complexity of the modern judicature calls for specialized legal training.
現代の司法制度は複雑なため、専門的な法的訓練が求められる。

judicature は英仏語を経て中世ラテン語 iudicatura に由来し、さらにラテン語 iudicare「裁く、判断する」にさかのぼります。judic- は「裁く」、-ure は行為や結果を表し、judge や judicial と同根なので、「裁くはたらき全体」から「司法」の意味になったと理解できます。
Judicature came into English through Anglo-French and Medieval Latin iudicatura. It goes back to Latin iudicare, meaning "to judge" or "to decide." The root is the same as in judge and judicial, and the word first referred to the act or office of judging before coming to mean the judicial system as a whole.
