Microgravity is a condition in which gravity seems extremely weak, especially in space. In this environment, objects and people appear to float. The term is mainly used in space science and research.

microgravity はギリシャ語 micro-「小さい」と、ラテン語 gravitas「重さ」由来の gravity から成る語です。直訳すれば『ごく小さな重さ』なので、ほぼ無重力の感覚を表すのも自然で、gravitation や grave にも同じ重さの核があります。
