neutral はラテン語 neutralis「どちらでもない」に由来し、ne-「ない」+ uter「片方」が核です。そこに -ize「〜化する」+ -er「するもの」が付いた neutralizer は、偏りを打ち消して中間へ戻すものです。neutral, neutrality が同根です。
This word comes from neutral plus the endings -ize and -er. Neutral goes back to Latin neutralis, meaning "neither of two," built from ne- "not" and uter "either one of two."
