nomenclature はラテン語 nomen（名前）＋ calare（呼ぶ）からできた nomenclatura に由来します。nominate や nominal と同じ nom- を含み、もとは「名前を呼んで示すこと」なので、物事をどう名づけるかという「命名法」の意味がそのまま見えます。
Nomenclature comes from Latin nomenclatura, built from nomen "name" and calare "to call." It originally referred to calling things by name. From that, it developed into the idea of a system for naming things. It shares the nom- root with nominal and nominate.
