物が必要以上に引き伸ばされている状態や、人・組織・予算などが能力や資源の限界を超えて酷使されている状態を表す形容詞。物理的にも比喩的にも使われ、余力がほとんどない切迫した状況を示す。
If someone or something is overstretched, they are under too much pressure or being used beyond a safe or reasonable limit. It is often used for people, time, money, or systems that cannot handle any more demand.
