解説 Definition
主に議会で、会期を正式に終了させ、次の会期まで議会の立法活動を停止する手続きを指します。議会そのものを解散して選挙に向かう dissolution とは異なり、英連邦諸国などの議会制度でよく使われる政治・憲法上の用語です。
Prorogation is the official suspension of a parliament or other lawmaking body for a period of time. It ends a session without dissolving the whole government, and work usually starts again later. This is mainly a formal political and legal term.
