protectiveness の語源・成り立ち Etymology
protectiveness はラテン語 protegere に由来し、pro-「前で」+ tegere「覆う」に、-ive と -ness が重なった形です。protect や detect と同じ teg- 系で、「前に立って覆う」イメージが、相手を守りたがる保護性へそのままつながります。
Protectiveness comes from protect, which goes back to Latin protegere, from pro- "in front" and tegere "to cover." English later added -ive and -ness to form the noun.
