resent は、不公平な扱い、侮辱、望まない要求などに対して、怒りや不満を抱くことを表す動詞です。
To feel anger, bitterness, or displeasure about an action, situation, or treatment perceived as unfair, insulting, or unwelcome.

resent の語源・成り立ち Etymology
resent はフランス語 ressentir（感じる、強く感じる）を経て英語に入り、さらにラテン語 sentire（感じる、知覚する）にさかのぼります。英語では、不当だと感じることへの怒りや不満を表す意味になりました。
Resent entered English through French ressentir, meaning to feel or perceive, especially strongly. It ultimately goes back to Latin sentire, “to feel” or “perceive.” In modern English, its meaning developed into feeling anger or bitterness about a perceived wrong.
