retraining の語源・成り立ち Etymology
retraining は re-「再び」+ training から成り、train は古フランス語 trainer を経て、ラテン語 trahere「引っぱる」にさかのぼります。人を一定方向へ「導いて伸ばす」感覚から訓練の意味になり、retraining はその訓練をもう一度行う語で、関連語に attract, contract があります。
