覚え方のコツ Memory Tip
summary（要約）をそのまま動詞にした形だと覚えると入りやすい語です。sum＝「合計・全体」を知っていれば、「バラバラの情報を集めて要点だけにする」感覚でつながります。-ize は「〜化する」「〜する」の動詞語尾なので、summary → summarize という形の変化も一緒に覚えると定着しやすいです。使う場面は summarize the article / summarize the main points のように、長い内容を短く整理するとき。explain は詳しく説明する、summarize は短く要点化する、という違いもセットで押さえると混同しません。
