teaser は tease に「〜するもの」を表す -er が付いた語です。tease は古英語 tæsan「引き裂く・ほぐす」にさかのぼり、繊維をほぐす動作から「じらす・からかう」へ意味が広がりました。tease や teasing も同根です。
Teaser comes from tease plus the ending -er, meaning "something or someone that teases." Tease goes back to Old English tæsan, originally "to pull apart" or "to comb out fibers." From the idea of drawing something out little by little, the meaning shifted to provoking, troubling, or making someone wait. Tease and teasing are from the same root.
