teasing は tease + -ing。tease は古英語 tǣsan「羊毛の繊維をほぐす」にさかのぼり、相手の気持ちをちくちく“引っぱる”感覚から「からかう」になりました。関連語は teaser, teasel。
Teasing is from tease plus the ending -ing. Tease goes back to Old English taesan, which meant to pull apart or comb out fibers such as wool. From that physical idea of pulling and troubling something, the word later developed the sense of bothering or making fun of a person.
