動作のしかたを示して「このように」と言う場合と、進む方向を示して「こちらへ」「こっちの道で」と言う場合があります。話し手が手本を見せたり、道案内をしたりするときによく使われる表現です。

覚え方のコツ Memory Tip
way はまず「道」、そこから「やり方」に広がる基本語。なので this way は、頭の中で一本の道を指さす場面を作ると覚えやすい。人を案内して Come this way. なら「こちらへ」、手順を見せて Do it this way. なら「このように」。方向と方法は別意味に見えて、どちらも「相手をこのルートに乗せる」感覚でつながる。説明文では in this way もよく出るが、this way のほうが会話的で、指さしや実演と相性がいい。by the way は「ところで」で別物、that way は「あの方向・あのやり方」だと並べて整理すると残りやすい。
