サッカーやラグビーなどのフィールド競技で、ピッチの両側にある境界線のこと。
A touchline is one of the long lines at the side of a sports field, especially in soccer or rugby. It marks the edge of the playing area and is mainly used in sports language.

touch と line が見えれば覚えやすい語で、まずは「プレーが端の線に touch する場所」とイメージすると定着します。フィールドの長辺に引かれた境界線で、短辺の goal line とセットで対比すると整理しやすいです。実況なら run down the touchline, the ball went out over the touchline のように、選手やボールが横の境界際を進む場面でよく出ます。sideline も近い語ですが、touchline は特にサッカーやラグビーでの正式な線の名前として覚えると混同しにくいです。
