月曜日の次、水曜日の前にあたる曜日です。予定や授業、会議などを言うときに on Tuesday, next Tuesday, Tuesday morning の形でよく使われます。曜日名なので英語では語頭を大文字にします。
Tuesday is the day of the week after Monday and before Wednesday. It is one of the seven days in a week. The name is usually written with a capital letter.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday と3日並べて覚えるのが最短です。tuesday は平日の流れの2番手で、月曜の次・水曜の前という位置で固定すると忘れにくくなります。実際の英文では on Tuesday, next Tuesday, Tuesday morning の形でよく出るので、単独の訳語より予定表の場面と結びつけるのが有効です。曜日名は語頭大文字が基本。さらに Tuesday と Thursday はどちらも T で始まって紛らわしいので、略語は Tue / Tues. と Thu / Thurs. を対で区別すると定着しやすいです。

Tuesday は Tiw + day で、古英語 Tiwesdæg「軍神 Tiw の日」に由来します。北欧神話の Tyr や deity も遠い同根で、曜日名の中に神名がそのまま入っていると分かると、ただの『火曜日』以上に立体的に見えてきます。
Tuesday comes from Old English Tiwesdaeg, meaning "Tiw's day." Tiw was a Germanic war god, related to the Norse god Tyr. So the weekday name began as the name of a god, not as a simple time word. This is part of the old tradition of naming days after deities.
