まず convinced を知っていると覚えやすい語です。convince が「納得させる」なので、convinced は「納得した」。そこに un- が付いて逆転し、「納得していない」とすぐ取れます。単なる「知らない」ではなく、説明や証拠を聞いた上でもまだ受け入れていない感じが強めです。I’m still unconvinced. の形でよく使われ、「話は聞いたが、まだ信じ切れない」という場面をセットで覚えると定着します。doubtful よりも、相手の説明に対する反応として使いやすい語です。
