Uneconomical means costing more money, time, or effort than is reasonable or necessary. It is often used for machines, plans, or habits that waste resources. The word can describe something financially inefficient or simply impractical.

Build it from `economical`, which means saving money, effort, or resources. Add `un-`, and you get the opposite: something that is not worth the cost or effort. It is useful to contrast it with `expensive`: `expensive` means high price, but `uneconomical` means poor value or poor efficiency.
