viscosity はまず形容詞 viscous「ねばねばした」を先に押さえると覚えやすいです。-ity は quality, purity と同じ「性質」を名詞化する語尾なので、「viscous な性質＝粘度」と分解できます。水は low viscosity、はちみつ・シロップ・重い油は high viscosity と具体物で対比すると定着します。似た理科語の density は「重さの詰まり具合」、viscosity は「流れにくさ」で別物。vicious とつづりが少し似るので混同注意です。
