wheelwright
車大工
解説 Definition
A wheelwright is a person whose job is to make or repair wheels, especially wooden wheels for carts and carriages. It is mainly a historical or traditional craft word, because this kind of work is much less common today.
Memory Tip
Start with `wheel`, which is easy: think of a wheel on a wagon. The tricky part is `-wright`, which does not mean `write` or `right`; it means a maker or builder, as in `shipwright`. So picture an old craftsman building and repairing wooden wheels.

Etymology
Wheelwright is made from wheel and wright. Wheel comes from Old English, and wright also comes from Old English, where it meant a worker or maker. The second part is related to work, wrought, and cartwright, all built around the idea of making things by hand.
