階段を駆け上がり、息が上がった姿を思い浮かべましょう。winded /ˈwɪndɪd/ は wind「息を切らせる」/wɪnd/ の過去分詞に由来し、wind「巻く」/waɪnd/ の過去形 wound とは別です。

Picture reaching the top of steep stairs out of breath. Winded /ˈwɪndɪd/ comes from wind /wɪnd/, “to make someone lose their breath.” Do not confuse it with wind /waɪnd/, “to turn or coil,” whose past form is wound.

winded の語源・成り立ち Etymology

winded は動詞 wind「息を切らせる、息を詰まらせる」の過去分詞からできた形容詞です。この wind は名詞 wind「息、呼吸」と関係し、古英語の wind「風、息」にさかのぼります。

Winded is the past participle of the verb wind in its “deprive of breath” sense and is commonly used as an adjective. This wind is pronounced /wɪnd/ and is related to the noun wind, historically associated with moving air and breath. The noun descends from Old English wind. The regular past-participle ending produces winded, literally suggesting that a person's breath has been affected.
