yammeringはyammer＋-ing。yammerは中世オランダ語jammerenや古英語geomrian「嘆く」にさかのぼり、もとは悲しんで泣きわめく響きでした。そこから「ぐちぐちうるさくわめく」に広がり、German Jammerとも同根です。
Yammering comes from yammer plus the ending -ing. Yammer is related to Middle Dutch jammeren and Old English geomrian, verbs connected with lamenting or crying out in distress.
