船・飛行機・列車などの乗り物に乗っていること、またはその中で何かが行われることを表す前置詞です。移動手段の内部にいる状態を簡潔に示し、旅行や輸送に関する文脈でよく使われます。
Aboard means on or into a ship, train, plane, bus, or other vehicle. It is used when talking about being inside or getting onto that form of transport. This word is a little more formal than simply saying on or in.
覚え方のコツ Memory Tip
board をまず「板」より「乗り込む」の語として押さえると覚えやすいです。go aboard, come aboard, all aboard! の形で何度も出るので、「乗り物に乗る・乗っている」とまとめて記憶すると定着します。on a ship / on a plane よりやや改まった響きがあり、船・飛行機・列車など“運ばれる側の中”にいる感じが強い語です。abroad と1字違いで紛らわしいので、aboard は「乗り物の中」、abroad は「外国へ・外国で」と対で区別すると忘れにくいです。

中英語 a bord（船の上に）から成り、a（～の上に）+ bord（板、船の甲板）の組み合わせ。古英語 bord は「板」を意味し、船の甲板を指した。関連語に board（板・搭乗する）や overboard（船外へ）がある。「甲板の上に」が乗船全般に広がった表現。
Aboard comes from Middle English a bord, literally meaning on board. Board originally meant a plank or wooden surface in Old English, and then also the deck or side of a ship. From the sense of being on the ship's boards, the word broadened to mean being on or into any vehicle; compare board and overboard.
