alliteration は literature や literal と同じく letter 系の見た目を持つので、「文字やことばの形に関わる語」と結びつけると入りやすいです。さらに all + iteration のように眺めて「同じことの繰り返し」と感じると、同じ語頭音を続ける技法だと覚えやすいです。rhyme が語尾の響きの一致なのに対し、alliteration は語頭の反復。詩やキャッチコピーで音のリズムを作る場面とセットで定着させると強いです。

alliteration はラテン語 ad-「…へ」+ littera「文字」からできた alliter- に、名詞化の -ation が付いた語です。文字どうしが寄り集まるイメージから、とくに語頭で同じ音・文字を重ねる「頭韻」を表すようになりました。関連語は literal, literature。
