apogee は、本来は地球を回る天体が軌道上で地球から最も遠くにある地点を指す名詞です。そこから転じて、人物や物事が最も高い段階に達した状態、つまり「頂点」や「絶頂」を表す比喩表現としても使われます。
Apogee means the highest point or most successful stage of something. It can also refer to the point in an object's path where it is farthest from the Earth, but in general use it often means a peak or climax.
